Niel de Jong (Hammerhead) has been working in the recording industry for over 25 years. His career started when things were still recorded to Studer tape machines and evolved through the digital revolution working with Audiofile, Synclavier and Pro-tools. He has many years experience in music mastering and post production sound mixing for film and television. He now mixes and masters music in Presonus Studio One.

Why “Hammerhead?” It’s a nickname given when Niel started working with Alien Weaponry and touring the world’s big metal festivals. “An old metal fan from way back”, his nickname comes from mangopare, the Māori name for the hammerhead shark and is a mythical guardian of his Ngāti Pikiao family. “It just kind of stuck”

Working as a touring team with Jette

Niel and Jette de Jong also work as a duo offering FOH sound, tour managment and merch sales for touring bands. As a team they have tour managed, mixed and merched at clubs, Arenas, and main stages at some of the biggest festivals in the world including Download, Wacken, Chicago Open Air, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, Metal Days to name a few. They have toured extensivly in Europe, North America and Australasia and have picked up a wealth of knowlege in these territories.
